    Herbert Holland Guthrie was born November 10 1869 in Brandonville, Preston County, West Virginia to John Guthrie and Emily Hollis "Emma" Dotson Guthrie. He died sometime between Dec 24 1945 and March 25 1946. He is survived by two brothers: Charles Dotson Guthrie and Homer Rudolph "Dolph" Guthrie, three sisters: I O Della Guthrie Trembly, Maude Mae Guthrie Wilhelm and Rena Clyde Guthrie Lawson. Herbert is also survived by his daughter Evelyn Irene Guthrie Miller by his first wife Sarah Edith Sisler Guthrie,, three sons by his second wife Sadie Ellen Reckart Guthrie: Herbert Elwood Guthrie, Charles Ellis Guthrie, Stanley Vernon Guthrie and Ralph Harold Guthrie. Three daughters: Rose Marie Guthrie Myers, Virginia Ruth Guthrie Deal,and Connie Ellen Guthrie Smith. Herbert is buried at the Parnell Cemetery in Cuzzart, Preston County, West Virginia in an unmarked grave, which lies next to his brother and sister-in-law Dolph and Esther Reckart Guthrie.     Aged Farmington Man Is Missing

    Police Enlisted in Wide Search

    Object of a widespread search by police is Herbert Guthrie, 76 year old resident of Route 40 of Farmington, Pa, who has been missing from home since December 23, 1945.

    C.W. Guthrie, Hazelton WV a brother of the missing man, said he became worried when Herbert Guthrie failed to pay his weekly visits. Neighbors said they had not seen him since December 23.

    A recent report from residents near Searights was that an aged man was working on a nearby farm. No trace has been found.

    At the time of his departure he was wearing a blue serge suit, green and black checkered shirt and blue overalls. He is five feet, five inches in height and weights 130 pounds. He has brown eyes, brown hair and is partially bald.




    Identify Body As County man

    Disappearance at Farmington Solved

    The body of a man found Monday afternoon in a creek in Darnell Park, WV was identified yesterday by County Detectives Lawrence Haggerty and Forrest Parks as that of Herbert Guthrie 76, of Farmington Pa, who disappeared last December 22. Positive identify was established by Mrs Rena Lawson, Hazelton, WV a sister of the dead man.

    Although in a decomposed condition, the body was recognized by the clothing, hair line, weight and height.

    An autopsy showed Guthrie had been dead for more than two months and that death was due to a hemorrhage of an undetermined origin.

    Guthrie is survived by his widow, Mrs. Sadie Guthrie, Farmington, and several children and brothers and sisters in the Pennsylvania-West Virginia district. The body has been removed to the home of a sister in Hazelton WV. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
