Fostoria -- Graveside services for Herbert Foster, 83, of Lexington, Ky, a nd formerly of Fostoria, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Sandridge Ce metery, Bascom, the Rev. Branson Hawkes officiating.

There will be no visitation.

Mr. Foster died at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at St. Joseph Hospi tal, Lexington.

He was born Nov. 15, 1919 in West Millgrove to Harry and Iva (Spurgeon) Fo ster. He married Glenna Caskie on April 10, 1937, and she survives.

Also surviving are a son, Dennis of Lexington, Ky.; four grandchildren; fo ur great-grandchildren; and a sister, Anna Snyder, Risingsun.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jay; and two brothers, Willis and Orl o.

Mr. Foster was racing stable manager for Foster & Leonard LLC, Lexingto n, for three years. He formerly worked at General Telephone, Kirkland, Was h. for 16 years; and Nickel Plate Railroad, Fostoria, for 17 years.

He was a U.S Navy veteran of World War II, serving four years on the USS D aly.

He was a member of GTE Pioneers and USS Daly Veterans Association, and w as an Illustrious 33rd Degree Mason.
