    [Includes notes (no sources provided): Son of Francis (SR) & Agnes Woodson Watkins. He attended Hampden-Sydney, Washington College, Princeton A.B. and William & Mary for law. He was married to Agnes Venable daughter of Samuel Woodson and Mary nee' Carrington Venable. They lived in a house called the "The Home" which lay about a mile from his birth place, "Poplar Hill". At "The Home" he conducted a law school.

    His political activities included the following:
    Commonwealth Attorney 1810-1813; Member of the House of Delegates 1812-1833; Member VA Senate 1833-34. In 1818 he was on the commission to choose the site location for the U. of VA. He served as a Capt. in the war of 1812 and was involved with his company at the Battle of Bottom's Bridge. ]
