Fireman Staples Killed Henry Staples, aged about 25 years, a fireman on the Central Vermont road, was killed about 11 o'clock yesterday forenoon by striking his head against the bridge at what is known as the Ox Bow south of Middlebury. The train, No. 22, was drawn by engine 94, with J. Burt as engineer. The train had separated and Staples stood between the cab and tender leaning out to watch the rear section and did not notice the bridge. He hit the timber and his temple was crush, causing death almost instantly. He fell to the floor of the bridge and was picked up and taken to Middlebury, and thence was brought to Middlebury, and thence was brought here last night. His father and mother were notified and arrived from Windsor this morning. He leaves a wife, the youngest daughter of Samuel Jackson(sic), and one young daughter. The body is to be taken to Windsor for interment. Mr. Staples has been in the employ of the road for some time and was the fireman for engineer Kirk when the accident at Roxbury which resulted in Kirks death.
