Henry was the son of Henry Stair (son of Philip) and Mary Landis who moved to Virginia when Henry was an infant. Henry and Sarah (Brugh) Stair and their first four children came to Tippecanoe Co., IN in 1830. Henry seemed to be a devout Methodist. They had seven children, John, Philip, Alice Emeline (m. John Fisher)died in childbirth, then daughter Savannah m. John Fisher, Allen died at age 16, Mary (m. Leander Reed), and Caroline m. William Lyon.
