    Henry B Simmons died August 12 1920 in Brooklyn. He is buried at Cypress Hills Cem along with Elvira (Woodward Sell) Simmons d. 27 Dec 1905 in Brooklyn. Emma L. (Simmons) Allen is in the same plot, she died 12 Feb 1933.

    Henry was a young soldier in the Civil War and served with the 6th Ohio Cavalry 1864-1865 and after the war was an active member of the GAR in Brooklyn. His mother was Lucinda Tichenor who was born in New Jersey about 1805 and died in Brooklyn May 14 1892.

    Henry B Simmons ca. 1890. Henry was a member of the 6th Ohio Cavalry during 1864 and 1865. He was attached to Company F and this company spent some of the time detached to support the 6th New York Light Artillery. Henry was at the Battle of the Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Petersburgh and Richmond. He was living in Williamsburg, Kings Co. New York when he married Elvira Sell in 1874, He died in August of 1920 in Brooklyn. The photo was undated but looks to have been a formal portrait taken about 1890. Note the cavalryman's saber at his side and the collar device which is the number "435". This represents his Grand Army of the Republic Post, Abel Smith
    Post # 435, which was located in Williamsburg , Brooklyn.
