Obituaries SUDDEN DEATH SUMMONS ELWELL MAN ON TUESDAY -- Henry Romine Succumbs in Heart Attack After a Usual Busy Day. __ Gratiot county lost one of the well known citizens this week when Henry S. Romine of Elwell passed away very suddenly at the family home in Elwell on Tuesday, at the age of sixty-six years. Mr. Romine was apparently in his usual health that day and spent long and busy hours in the fields among his crops. Returning home at night he became suddenly ill and died at six thirty o'clock as the result of a heart attack which could not be relieved. His passing came as a shock and deep sorrow to the family and friends and he will be greatly missed by many who knew him favorably and well. The funeral service will be held on Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock in the Elwell Methodist church with Rev. Carr officiating. Interment will be in the Seville Center cemetery. The service will be under the auspices of the Odd Fellows lodge. Henry Sheridan Romine was born in Union county, Ohio, on December 21, 1867, and passed away suddenly at his home in Elwell July 25, 1933. His early life was spent in Ohio and Pennsylvania. He moved to Michigan with his parents in 1883 and settled in Seville township where he made his home during most of the time since then. He was united in marriage to Miss Sadie Corl, November 30, 1893. five children were born. One son, Dewey, died in 1902. Mr. Romine served as rural mail carrier on route one for a number of years and was always known as accommodating and obliging. "Sherd" as he was called by everyone, was widely respected and always ready to aid others. He was a member of the local I.O.O.F. lodge. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Sadie Romine, three daughters, Mrs. Wm. Anderson, Mrs. Leona Hilton and Mrs. Delbert Ek, one son, Corl Romine of Elwell, a sister Mrs. Stella Follick, of Saginaw, one brother, Freeman Romine of Owosso and seven grandchildren, besides a host of friends and neighbors. HENRY ROMINE Henry Corl Romine, 84, of 421 Allen St., Alma died April 14, 1981 at his home. An Alma resident all his life, Mr. Romine was born in Gratiot County on April 9, 1897, the son of Henry Sheridan and Sadie Romine. In 1917 in sumner he was married to Emma LaPaugh, who survives him. Also surviving are one son, Leslie of Ithaca; three daughters, Mrs. Beth Martin of Mr. Pleasant, Mrs. Roberta R. Martin of Alma and Mrs. Leatrice J. Hook of Canada; one sister, Mrs. Agatha Ek of Lansing; ten grandchildren and 12 great-granchildren. Funeral services were held April 17 from the Dewey Funeral Home of Alma.
