  3. ↑ The birthdate for Henry is somewhat unclear. The Keene record (cited) of Dec. 1838 is probably from later in life when he moved there. The 1900 census gives his birth as Dec 1840. The death record (cited) gives Dec 1839. There seems to be no authentic birth record.

    In census records, Dec is almost always going to look like the next year in age calculations, so Dec 1838 will calculate to 1839 in a census record, Dec 1839 to 1840, etc. In 1850 the age is 1839, supporting Dec 1838, as do 1870 and 1910. 1880 calculates to 1840, supporting Dec 1839.
