HENRY CHAMPION died at Mankato, Minn., January 30, 1867, aged 28 years. He was the son of George and Susan Champion, missionaries to South Africa, and was born in that country, at Port Elizabeth, November 8, 1838.
The first year after his graduation was spent in the study of modern languages, in New Haven, and the two succeeding years in the Law School connected with the College. He was admitted to the bar in May, 1863, and established himself in practice in New Haven. In January, 1866, his health, whicn had been for some months failing, compelled him to seek a change of climate, and he went to Mankato, Minn., where, after a year's residence, he died.
Mr. Champion prepared and published, in 1863, a "Catalogue of the Cabinet of Coins belonging to Yale College," and subsequently gave to the College his own large and valuable collection.
He was married, August 4, 1863, to Sarah E., daughter of Wilson Booth, Esq., of New Haven, who survives him.
