Harry J. Allen, son of Captain and Mrs. George Allen, was born January 4, 1869, at Chatfield, Minnesota. He was married March 10, 1891 to Gertrude Leach. They had two sons, Marshall of Yakima, Washington; Raymond of California and two daughters, Gladys (Mrs. Fred Lowrie) of Pleasant Grove and Dorris (Mrs. Dana Houghton) who died as a young woman. Mr. Allen farmed west of the village of Pleasant Grove and was later employed at the State Hospital in Rochester. Returning to Pleasant Grove village in 1941 Harry with his wife, Gertrude Leach Allen, celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary.

In 1945, Harry J. Allen wed Mrs. Nellie Lowrie Carothers and continued residence in Pleasant Grove village. He was active in the Masonic Lodge and community organizations. He served on the Olmsted County Fair Board. Harry James Allen died June 9 1948. Services were held at the Stewartville Methodist Church and at the graveside with Masonic rites at Evergreen cemetery at Pleasant Grove. He was laid to rest beside wife and daughter in the family plot. He is survived by a widow, two sons, a daughter, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
