    "Henry R. Koopman was the Pullman photographer of the town and workers.
    In 1893 he published a book on the town called "The City of Brick". His studio was located at 11106 S. Michigan Avenue in Roseland. From 1918-19, he worked in the Pullman Shops in the shell division." The Pullman State Historic Site has "many original photographs, studio cards, postcards, etc. by Koopman as well as images of his studio in Roseland."

    "KOOPMAN, HENRY RALPH

    Koopman, Henry Ralph (1860-1944), photographer, 11104 Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL (1892) (1900) See City Directories. Henry Ralph Koopman was born in 1860 in Gorinchem, the Netherlands, and emigrated to the US at 6 mos. of age with his father, Henry Ralph Koopman I, a preacher. Koopman II, while living in Patterson, NJ, learned the photography trade at the Simpson photo studio in NYC. He then returned to Roseland, IL in 1884 and set up the Leader Studio at 11106 S. Michigan St. where he was the only artist in town."
