HELEN BRUDER DIES OF CANCER Helen Ruth Bruder, 49, of rural Long Prairie died June 12 at St. John's Hospital in Browerville after a long illness of several years suffering from cancer. Rev. Edward C. Ramacher officiated at the funeral mass June 15 at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Long Prairie. Interment was made in the parish cemetery. The Pallbearers were: Leander Terwey, Ed Nokels, Martin Kortuem, Carl Lampart, Earl Reinbold and Melvin Miller. Helen (Shook) Bruder, daughter of Andrew and Amelia (Steffen) Shook, was born in Denver, Colorado May 18, 1922. She married Emil Bruder November 17, 1943 at Long Prairie and spent most of her life in the Long Prairie area. She was a member of St. Mary's Church and Christian Mothers of St. Mary's. Survivors are her husband, Emil; two sons, Gregory and Michael; six daughters; Mrs. Vernon (Carolyn) Ferrian, Merrifield; Mrs. Keith (Janice) Engbrecht, San Antonio, Texas; Charlotte, St. Cloud; and Teressa, Renee, and Dana all at home; four brothers, Ernest and Laurel of Seattle, Washington; Albert, Streitcoam, Washington; William, California; three sisters; Mrs. Clarence (Louise) Mertz, Minneapolis; Mrs. Henry (Mona) Cuppery, Beaver Dam, Wisconsin; and Mr. Edward (Juanita) Bruder, Browerville. One daughter, Sharon, died 21 years ago at the age of two. Arrangements by Stephan Stein Funeral Home. References
