HELEN McGAHEY LIMA — Helen Marie McGahey, 83, of Lima, died at 4:15 a.m., Sunday, November 2, 2014, in Lima Convalescent Home. She was born Jan. 24, 1931, in Pittsburgh, PA, to Jacob and Helen P. (Zirngible) Augustine who preceded her in death. ON Nov. 28, 1953, she married Philip J. McGahey, in San Diego, CA while they were both serving in the U.S. Navy. From a 61 year marriage, five children were born: Marianne McGahey of Lima, Patrick R. (Sally) McGahey of Spokane, WA, James P. (Lynn) McGahey of Clawson, MI, Kevin R. (Susan) McGahey of Amber, PA and Erin (Jerry) Hoyer of Marysville. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Kayla McGahey of Phoenix, Tara (T.J.) Lee of Spokane, and Elizabeth McGahey and Matthew McGahey both of Ambler; and three siblings: Laverne David of La Mirada, CA and Norman Augustine and Emelda Dvorchak both of Pittsburgh. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Robert Augustine. Mrs. McGahey served in the U.S. Navy, from 1951 until 1954 and was a Corps WAVE, serving dependents of the Navy and Marine Corps personnel. After her discharge, she began raising her family, being a loving and devoted mother and wife. There will be a private family service at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home, with military rites by V.F.W. Post 1275 and the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Condolences may be expressed at www.siferd-oriansfuneralhome.com.
