EDEN - Hazel Carter Jeffries, 83, of 992 Harris St., passed away early Thursday morning, March 20, 2008 at Avante of Reidsville.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Jeffries was born May 6, 1924 in Rockingham County, to the late Walter Henry and Ruby Carter. She was a member of New King Memorial Baptist Church. Surviving are her sons, Oliver Jackson Jeffries, Jr. and wife, Wendy of Ruffin, and Ronald Glenn Jeffries and wife, Janice of Eden; and daughter, Virginia Jeffries Carter of Eden; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Jackson Jeffries, Sr.

The family will receive friends Friday evening, 6 - 8 p.m. at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter at 213 Moir Street in Eden.
