    Hardy Caldwell was born January 27, 1785. The census records of Sumner County, Tennessee for 1850 and 1860 state that Hardy Caldwell was born in North Carolina. The information that we now have indicates that Hardy was either born in Virginia, most likely in Pittsylvania County or in Wilkes County, North Carolina. The preponderance of evidence suggests that the parents of Hardy Caldwell were Seth Caldwell and Elizabeth (very possibly Elizabeth Hardy), who originally came from Loudoun County, Virginia.
