1840 Aug 6: Probate at IRAD, Harvey Glenn, administrator Elijah [sic Irijah] Byars, vol 70, pg 2608. [index] [edit] the following from photocopies sent by Nancy Attey in 1999transcribed by Jackie Marshall 14 Jun 2007 & submitted to IL Trails History & Genealogy [sheet 1, handwritten] 24 Estate of Harvey Glenn, Letter of Administration State of Illinois} sct the people of the state of Illinois to Jackson County} all to whom these presents shall come greeting. Know ye that whereas Harvy Glenn of the cou- nty of Jackson and State of Illinois died intestate as is said on or about the sixteenth day of February A D - 1840 having at the time of his decease personal prop- -erty in this State which may be lost destroyed diminished in value if speedy care be not taken of the saim to the end therefore that said property may be Collected and preserved for those who shall appear to have a legal right or interest therein we do hereby appoint Irijah Byers of the County of Jackson and State of Illinois administrator of all and singular the goods and cattels rights and credits which were of the said Harvy Glenn at the time of his decease - with full power and authority to secure and col- lect the said property and debts wheresoever the the saim may be found in this state and in general to do and perform all other acts which now are or hereafter may be required of him by law. Bush Sec'ry [back of sheet 2; printed form letter with name & particulars filled into blank spaces] STATE OF ILLINOIS} sct.---THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS Jackson COUNTY} TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME, GREETING: Know ye, That whereas Harvey Glenn of the county of Jackson and State of Illinois died intestate as it is said, on or about the sixteenth day of February A. D. 1840, having at the time of his decease personal property in this State, which may be lost, destroyed, diminished in value, if sppedy care be not taken of the same; to the end, therefore, that said property may be collected and preserved for those who shall appear to have a legal right or interest therein, we do hereby appoint Irijah Byars of the county of Jackson and State of Illinois, administrator of all and singular, the goods and chattels, rights and credits, which were of the said Harvey Glenn at the time of his decease; with full power and authority to secure and collect the said property and debts, wheresoever the same may be found in this State, and in general to do and perform all other acts which are now or hereafter may be required of him by law. [sheet 3, no page number visible, dark copy] Murphysboro Illinois __ January 1845 At a Special term of Probate Justice Court of Jackson County held in the Town of Murphysboro on the 25th day of January AD 1845. P__ __ Hill Probate Justice of the Peace for Said County of Jackson. And now at this day came Irijah Byars, Administrator of the estate of Harvey Glenn, deceased and filed in this office an account current in which he charges himself as follows viz - ammount of sale bill Twenty two Dollars & 51 cents - $22.51 And said account also claims the following __ to amt Paid Imry Byars for nursing Medicine & burial expenses in Last ___ $14.00 Paid D.H. Brush f_ against _is estate as Probate f__ as per ___ filed5.44 Paid appraisers seventy five cents each2.25 Paid Auctioneer Richard Brown2.00 My expences for Admini__ing sd. estate5.00 My percent on property Sold1.20______ $29.89 By which it appears that there is a balance sale bill 22.__ Price over and above the amt. of the sale bill of -- $7.39 ========= And by the oath of the said Administrator The above amts were allowed by order of the Court that said accnt after Examination be filed. [edit] ===Also on this day came Irijah Byars Guardian for Harvy Glen and Reported to the Court the Manner in which he as Guardian of aforesaid had transacted Business of his ward, as follows - viz Some time in the year 1837 I received of AM Jenkins administrator of the estate of Isaac Glenn the sum of Two hundred & fifty Dollars$250 Some time in the fall of 1838 if not _____ There came to hand $30 more paid by the said AM Jenkins, being the share of Harvey Glenn as heir of Isaac Glenn $30.00 Making in all the sum of Two hundred & eighty dollars which upon Examination, & by the oath of said Guardian the same was approved & ordered to be filed. [first entry; Estate of Charles Layman, not transcribed] also Peter Gill Guardian of Tolbartt & Oliver Glenn at __ time of the filing of the same ___ on 29 May 1845 bill due Tolbott Glenn __ said day of 29 May 1845 of one hundred and sisty five Dollars & 63 cents. $165.63 which Report was filed 27 May 1845 & approved __ 3e term 1845. Thos. B. Hill P.J.P. __ a Report filed by Irijah Byars Guardian for Harvey Glenn on 31st June 1845 as follows to wit ammount Due Harvey Glen in 1843 Two hundred and forty nine Dollars & 70 cents$249.70 all of which amount was as (apprais?) from Said Report. Paid or ___ by Said Irijah Byars as ___ Guardian by and with the Conc_t of the Guardians of his Said Heirs (Harvey Glen) as __ -ide to & ___ to by Said Byars as such Guardian Which Report __ or __ to be Excu__ & __ the court. Court then adjourned Thos. B. ____
