Harry F. Wood South Connellsville Formerly of Connellsville Harry F. Wood, 87, of South Connellsville, formerly of Connellsville, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, in UPMC Presbyterian, Oakland. He was born Feb. 18, 1923, in Connellsville Township, a son of the late George C. and Lottie Caroline Krob Wood. He was a graduate of Connellsville Area High School, and was a World War II veteran, having served in the Army. Prior to his retirement, Harry worked for many years with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the Bureau of Employee Security Department. Also, he was the former owner of "The Battleship" boarding house in Connellsville. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Connellsville, and was a life member of VFW Post 21, DAV, American Legion Post 301 and the Polish Club. He is survived by his loving companion of 22 years, Agnes Osler and her family, Amy, Vicky and Kenny. He will be sadly missed by his companion's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Harry had a very special place in his heart for Kaylee and Alyssa. He is also survived by a stepdaughter, Audrey Judith Mosholder, of Carmichaels; stepgrandchildren, Wayne Kern, of Morgantown, W.Va., and Susan Rogers and her family; three great-grandsons; a great-granddaughter; also numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward, George, William and Robert Wood; and two sisters, Madeline Wood Minsterman Donadio and Loretta Hannah Dill. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME INC., 418 N. Pittsburgh St., Connellsville, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with his pastor, Dennis Roser, officiating. Interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville. Full military rites will be accorded at the funeral home by VFW Post 21 and American Legion Posts 301 and 762.
