    Harry Carnine Dies

    Harry J. Carnine, who lived for many years in the Rinker neighborhood, died this morning in Axtell Christian Hospital in Newton. Mr. Carnine had been a resident since September, 1966, of the Presbyterian Manor in Newton.

    Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the First Presbyterian Church. They will be conducted by the Rev. Samuel B. Maier, pastor of the church. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery. The casket will be open Tuesday afternoon and evening and Wednesday morning in the Blair Colonial Mortuary but it will not be open during the services. Members of the family have suggested memorial contributions to the Presbyterian Manor in Newton.

    Mr. Carnine, the son of Peter M. and Mary Susan Leyster (sic) Carnine, was born April 4th, 1876, in Franklin, Ind., and he was married to Lena Jones on Oct. 5th, 1910, in Burlingame. He and his family had lived in Burlingame and Osage City before they moved to the Emporia area, in 1930. Mr. Carnine was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Emporia Masonic Lodge 12, A.F. and A.M., and the Rinker Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, who died June 5th, 1969, and by one son, John L., who died in 1916. He is survived by one son, Harry J. of Patterson, N.J.; one daughter, Margaret E. Carnine, Topeka, and one brother, the Rev. John Carnine, Santa Fe, N.M.

    Carnine Services Held

    Funeral services for Harry Carnine, formerly of the Rinker neighborhood, who died Monday in the Axtell Christian Hospital in Newton, were held Wednesday afternoon in the First Presbyterian Church. They were conducted by the Rev. Samuel B. Maier, pastor of the church. the soloist was Mrs. Richard Lawrence, the organist was Mrs. Elvin Perkins and the pallbearers were J. I. Beeson, J. J. Morris, George A. Tompkins, M. J. Steckel, M. H. Carnine and Harold Seybold. Members of the Rinker Club attended in a group. Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery.

    Relatives who attended from out of town were Harry J. Carnine, Paterson, N. J.; Margaret Carnine, Topeka; Mrs. Richard Lawrence, Wichita; and Mrs. Claybourne Smith, Hartford.
