Henrietta, the daughter of the late Frank and Louisa Mosbaugh, was born in Cambridge City, October 3, 1840, and passed into the great beyond on December 21, 1919, aged 79 years, 3 months and 28 days, after an illness of eight days with pneumonia. She resided here until she was married to Louis G. Kiess, December 23d, 1862, after which they lived in Cincinnati, Ohio, for five years. To this union were born five children, two of whom died in infancy, and she is surviced by a son and two daughters, Julia, George and Grace. After the death of her husband, which occurred some 40 years ago, she returned to Cambridge City where she has since resided, and reared her family to manhood and womanhood. She devoted 21 years of her life in serving the public in the local post-office, acting as deputy under her brother Frank C. Mosbaugh, a four years term as postmistress and later as deputy under Mrs. Julia Jones, during which long service she endeared herself in the hearts of the entire community. The patriotic widow of a Civil war veteran, none was more loyal during the late world war period than she in the local Red Cross service, receiving a certificate in recognition of her faithful work. At the time of her death she was the oldest native born person residing here. In addition to her children she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Eustine Swiggett of Waukeeney, Kansas, Mrs. Louise M Thurston, of St. Paul, Minn, and a brother Frank C. Mosbaugh of this place. In her duties as a wife and mother she was ever faithful, loving, kind and generous to her loved ones, as her well known life long devotion to her invalid daughter Julia, bears witness. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Burbank of St. Paul's Episcopal church, Richmond, Friday afternoon at the Baptist church. Interment in Riverside cemetery.
