Following the murder of her husband Hugh Henry Wallis in Louisiana, Hannah Isabelle Wallis went to Tompkins County NY where she lived with her sister-in-law Sophia Brooks Wallis Boyer. She later returned to Kent County where she lived a Darnells Farm which she had inheritated from her father. Following the war she went to live with her step mother Sarah Ann Groome Wallis in Petersburg VA. In the 1870 census living with Sarah Ann Wallis and her second adopted family, Sarah Ellen and Isaac Groome. After Sarah Ann Groome Wallis left for Kansas in 1777 Hannah stayed in Petersburg VA.
