Hannah Hall’s origins have yet to be established. Her first sighting is on 3rd January 1795 when she and George Sproat “gave in their names for proclamation” at Yetholm in Roxburghshire, Scotland. Whether this means they were effectively married that day or merely were announcing their intention to marry is unclear. Either way, it would appear that they did marry, and had a daughter named Hannah, born on 23rd October 1796. Hannah was not baptised until she was twelve years old. Her baptism in 1809 is the last document found which mentions Hannah. No other children have been found for the couple. |
