Hannah Beeson was baptised on 24th January 1835 at Cotham in Nottinghamshire, daughter of a labourer called Thomas Beeson and his wife Hannah. Young Hannah appears in the 1841 census living with her parents in Cotham.
On 14th May 1859, aged 24, Hannah married William Haywood at Cotham. After their marriage they lived for the first few years at Long Bennington in Lincolnshire, about three miles south-east of Cotham. They appear there in the 1861 census, when William was working as an agricultural labourer, and they had two sons were born there in 1861 and 1866.
By 1871 the family had moved to Shelton in Nottinghamshire, about two miles south-west of Cotham, where William worked as a gamekeeper. William was still working as a gamekeeper ten years later, when Hannah and he were living at Staunton, another village in the same area.
Hannah died at the age of 55. She was buried at Cotham on 3rd October 1890. William survived her by just over four years.
