DR. GUST N. BAMBAKIDIS BAMBAKIDIS, Dr. Gust N. "Dino" 80, of Fairborn, passed away Friday, December 9, 2016 in Cleveland surrounded by his loved ones. Dino enriched the lives of many and he will be remembered, as he would have wished, with a smile. He was born in Akron to Greek immigrants Nicholas & Zopigi Bambakidis. Dino graduated as valedictorian from East High School in Akron; he received his bachelor's from the University of Akron, majoring in Physics and Mathematics, and earned his doctorate at the Department of Physics at Case Institute of Technology. Dino had a long and distinguished career serving at NASA in California and Ohio and retiring from Wright State University as Chair and Professor Emeritus of Physics after 29 years of service. He was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, served on the Parish Council and was a member of AHEPA #113 in Dayton. Dino was a state champion weightlifter and avid sports fan, attending both the Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland Indians games. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law, Dr. Herbert Evans. Dino is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Elli; sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Nicholas and Kimberly, Reverend Deacon Steven and Jenny, Evangelos and Stacy; sister & brother-in-law, Drs. Katholiki & Alfred Hellman; sister, Sylvia Evans; brother & sister-in-law, Dr. Peter & Anna Bambakidis; grandchildren, Eva, Costa, Peter, Ella, Lazarus, Leandros and Constantine; numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins and Godchildren. A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, December 16 at The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 500 Belmonte Park North with Father Mark P. Emroll officiating. Interment following in Woodland Cemetery.
