Godfrey Miller Birth 1730 Germany Death 12 Dec 1803 (aged 72–73) Burial: German Lutheran Church Cemetery Winchester, Winchester City, Virginia, USA
Aged 73 years. Buried next to Anna Miller.
The son of John and Dorothea Hoehl Miller was a young weaver in Germany. He immigrated to Pennsylvania in 1763 with his brothers. Settling in Winchester, Virginia, he married Anna Maria Kurtz in 1766. The union brought nine children. Continuing the weaving business, by 1764, he was also an apothecary. His shop on Loudoun Street is where a young George Washington had prescriptions filled. It evolved into Miller's Drug Store, and when it in closed in 1992, it was known as the oldest continuingly family-run drug store in America. They were known to have the best sundaes in town. Original ledgers, medical books, and supplies, dating from 1806, are housed at Shenandoah University's School of Pharmacy.
