    Glenn Calahan, 69, passed away on April 10, 2006, in Albuquerque after a long illness.

    He was born on August 4, 1936, in Noble, Okla., to Frank Shelton Calahan and Alma Lorene Reid.

    A Grants resident since 1959, Mr. Calahan was a former member of the First Assembly of God Church. On May 21, 1955, he married Shirley J. Souther-Calahan. He was employed for 27 years with United Nuclear Homestake Partners. Since 1985 he owned and operated Taco Village. A member of the National Hot Rod Association and the Grand Sport Buick Club of America, he had a passion for his car and loved racing cars. His family remembers him as a kind, generous man who loved friends and family.

    Mr. Calahan is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Shirley Calahan of the Grants family home; sons David Glenn Calahan and wife Julie of Albuquerque and Tim Calahan and wife Ronna of Albuquerque; his daughter Shelley Baca and husband Kenneth of Grants; his brothers Lanny Calahan and wife June of Flagstaff, Ariz., Johnie Calahan of Grants and A. Paul Calahan and wife Shirley of Flagstaff; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents Frank Shelton Calahan and Alma Lorene Reid-Calahan.

    Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today, Friday, April 14, 2006, at the Lighthouse Christian Center, Lobo Canyon Road and Cordova Avenue in Grants. The Reverend Clemente Saavedra of New Life Assembly of God in Grants and Pastor Weldon Burchett of Family Christian Center of Dallas, Texas, will officiate. Immediately following the funeral service, family and friends are invited to a reception at the Lighthouse Christian Center for fellowship and refreshments.

    Graveside services and internment will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 15, at Grants Memorial Park.

    Pallbearers will be Paul Heliker, Len Freeman, Ian Calahan, Gary Patterson, Frank Falcomata and Chris Sarceda.

    Grants Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
