His parents and brothers and sisters each had a name chosen for him when he was born; the nurse in attendance suggested Glenden as a compromise. They put all the names into a hat and drew one out, Glenden winning. Glen was baptized in the German Methodist church in Dunkirk on 24 Jun 1907. In 1914, Glen was in the first grade at No. 3 School in Dunkirk, NY. He is listed in the 1920 census, age 13 living with his parents on Swamp Road in Dunkirk, NY. They Resided at Washburn Apartments on Water St, Fredonia, the first 10 months of their marriage from September through April. They had a Model A car. Then in Spring of 34 to Aug 1936 they rented a house from Geiger on the corner of Swamp Road and West Main. Mildred worked at a stand on the corner. In September, 1936, they moved to Glenden's fathers farm on Swamp Rd. About 4/5 August of 1940, he got a job at Allegheny Ludlum Steel Co. For 10 months prior to June 1941 they lived at Dr Edmunds office on Temple St., Fredonia. In June, 1941 he purchased a farm from Mrs. Charles Huebel at 201 Seymour St., Fredonia, NY where he resided until being transferred to Waterveliet, NY about Dec 1963 by the Allegheny Ludlum Steel Co. where he lived in Latham, NY until his retirement in 1971. After retirement, he moved to 9 Pennington Drive, Cassadaga, NY and spent winters in Avon Park, FL. He was a farmer and employee of Allegheny Ludlum Steel Co. He was also a Deacon of the Baptist Church, Fredonia, NY and later a member of the Cassadaga Baptist Church. References
