    "87 Giles Hooker (Samuel,3 Samuel,2 Thomas1), son of Samuel and Mehitable (Hamlin) Hooker of Farmington, Conn., born Oct. 4, 1690, at Farmington; … lived upon the Gen. George Cowles place, and for a long time, and perhaps still, a flat stone in the side-walk, just below the brow of the hill, covered the old well of the Giles Hooker house (on Main St., Farmington). His father lived in the 'Mix house' nearly opposite (the house just south of the old burying ground, in later years owned by Austin Williams)."
