Mrs. Gertrude Barnes, 81, of 314 East Division died Sunday (28 Mar., 1966) afternoon at a local nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Wednesday at the Chapel of the Ap fel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home at Second and Washington. The Rev. James Chubb will officiate . Burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and night at the funeral home.

 Mrs. Barnes was born March 5, 1885, at Central City to John C. and Mildred (Boyd) Gorin. She taught school in Hamilton County. She was married to Guy Barnes on April 15, 1907, at Grand Island. They made their home on a farm near Doniphan and later moved to Hampton. Mr. Barnes died in 1949.  Mrs. Barnes came to Grand Island in 1950.  She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a Gold Star Mother.  She was also a member of the Methodist Church.
 Survivors include five sons, W.G., Earl and Arthur of Grand Island. Ben of Doniphan and Hugh of LaGrange, Ky., one daughter, Mrs. Dixie Ueckert of Grand Island; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one brother, John Gorin of California.
