    ASSINK, Gertie, age 95, formerly of 212 9th St., Lynden, passed away in a Lynden Nursing Home on Wed. Sept. 30, 1981. Born in Allendale, Michigan, Mrs. Assink moved to the Lynden area in 1898. A charter member of the Third Christian Reformed Church she had also been active in the Ladies Aid Program and was married to her husband Henry in Lynden in 1907. Mr. Assink died in 1956. She is survived by 2 sons, Ben H. and his wife Martha of Lynden and Albert & wife Ethel of Hadley, Minn.; 3 daughters, Mrs. Henrietta & husband Martin Eerkes and Mrs. Berdina & husband Arthur Henken all of Lynden and Mrs. Gertrude & husband John DeJong of Woodland, Wash.; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Gertie Assink of San Diego, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters-in-law, Mrs. Anna Hendricks of Lynden, Mrs. Dena Willis and Mrs. Minnie Huisman both in Yakima and numerous nieces & nephews. Besides her husband she was also preceded by a son Herman in 1979 and 2 daughters in 1913 & 1920. Funeral services will be conducted on Mon. Oct. 5 at 11 a.m. in the Third Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Gerrit W. Sheeres officiating. Burial will follow in Monumenta Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Lynden Christian Rest Home or your favorite charity. Services are under the direction of the Gillies Funeral Home, Lynden.
