SCHUYLEMAN, Garrett T., resident of Whatcom county from 1898 until he moved to Seattle 12 years ago, was killed instantly Thursday (Jan. 18, 1951) at his home in that city when he fell from a tree he was pruning. He would have attained his 73rd birthday anniversary January 23. Born in The Netherlands, he came to the United States when 10 years old, and lived in South Dakota, Nebraska and Oregon before the family came to Whidbey island, settling at Oak Harbor, and later to Lynden. He lived in Whatcom county altogether 40 years. In 1900 he was married to Miss Elizabeth Veleke at Lynden. The youngest of their three daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Brannon, passed away in 1942 at Seattle. The two surviving daughters are Mrs. Clara Peabody, Suisum, Calif., and Mrs. Johanna Pyeatt, Hoquiam. Mrs. Schuyleman died in 1939 after they moved to Seattle. In 1942, Mr. Schuyleman was married to Mrs. Grace Bringham, who survives him at the home, 12312 Thirty-eighth street, northeast, Seattle. Also surviving are two sisters and a brother at Lynden, Mrs. Jennie Verbrugge, Mrs. Minnie Huisman and John Schuyleman; and a grandson, Roney Pyeatt, Hoquiam. Funeral services and burial were held in Seattle.
