Out of the insignificant family of Jost Kisselbach in Eschwege grows the large and well respected Kiesselbach family in Kirchhain. Genealogically the family is divided in two main lines which were founded by the two brothers and their children. The first brother is the progenitor of 3 branches and the second the progenitor of 4 branches. Georg Kiesselbach is the progenitor of the first line. Georg is not only the progenitor of the three branches but also the main person, the vortex of the entire family. He was Mayor of Kirchhain in 1689 and Consul in 1692.
