The father of these children was born in Otsego County, N. Y., in 1807, and died in western Allegany County, N. Y., in January, 1879; he was a son of Stephen and Lydia Withey, who had four children: Alva, Eliza, George and Harriet. Stephen Withey was born about the year 1769, and lived to be ninety-two years of age.
