In the military prison at Andersonville, Ga., on the 17th of June, 1864, George B. Tanner, only surviving son of John and Clarissa Tanner, in the 39th year of his age. The deceased was a follower of Christ, having professed faith in the Gospel in early life, and united with the Seventh-day Baptist Church in Little Genesee, N. Y. Removing to Nile, a few years ago, he united with the Church in that place, and had his membership there at the time of his death.
Having enlisted, at the call of his country, in the 85th Regiment of N. Y. Volunteers, he shared the fate of his companions in arms at the battle of Plymouth, N. C., and was sent to the Confederate prison at Andersonville, where he died. Of the manner of his death, nothing is known, but his friends rejoice (while they mourn) in the conviction that he died the death of a Christian. He leaves a wife and two interesting little children.
