The authority under which George Frederick was placed into Leake & Watts is not known. The Index to the Surrogate's Court Proceedings, Westchester County at The Westchester County Historical Society, 2199 Saw Mill River Road, Elmsford, NY 10523, was researched. There is no record of George or John Taber. This doesn't necessarily indicate no proceeding took place. Previous to archiving, these records were not secured. The disposition of George's father, John Taber's Estate is not known.
Applicant placing George Frederick Tabor in the Asylum, Mrs. S. Brittain. George's cousin, Mary Louisa Tabor was placed at the same time. However, 15 Oct 1859 she was "surrendered" back to her family, while George was left there.
NYC Boy's Indentures Vol 18, Vol 19, and Box 1-3 were researched at the NY Historical Society. An Indenture Contract for George Frederick Taber was not found.

  4.   George F. Taber wrote to his Aunt, "I don't know when I am going a way but I think I will go the first of March." He would be 14 at the time he wrote this letter. I assume he was notifying his Aunt of his impending release. He also wrote, "I have not heard from Annie since last September." "Annie" has not been identified. He ended with, "Please Answer as soon as Possible."
