George Washington Smith was living in Lawrence County Alabama in 1926 when he was struck by lighting and killed. There isn't a death certificate. I can't find him mentioned in Newspapers, The family says he was born in Nashville,TN FEb.5,1861 as of today I have not found any proof of this. [May have been born in Alabama] In 1888 he married Sarah Celesta Shirley in Cullman County. their first child James Jackson Smith was born 1889 in Cullman County. I next pick him up in the 1900 Lawrence County Census with Sarah his wife and his four children. James Jackson Smith (my Grandfather) born Sept.2,.1889 George Francis Smith born Dec. 24,1893 Luther W. Smith Oct. 1891 Ada born March 12,1896.
