GEORGE migrated to America in 1843, settling in Tuscarawas County, Ohio. There is a story that his "father paid a Jew $125 to smuggle him out of Prussia, after 1 year in that army".

He and his family then migrated Wabash County in 1848. He may have been in the Daniel Lower group, or he may have in fact lead the group to Wabash County, from Tuscarawas County, Ohio. The history is silent on this.

George was one of the reported 18 (or 21) founders of St. Peter's Church.

George's wife, and John Jacob Lower's wife were sisters. Both were daughters of Jacob Karns. Three of George's daughters married Speicher brothers.

George has the tallest tombstone in the Urbana Cemetery, which is visible in the cemetery photograph.

George was enumerated in this census with people he was related to, and people he probably migrated with two years before. At this period of time, George probably lived to the southeast of the future town of Urbana. George (and his family) were enumerated as #17. The next entry (#18) was the Daniel Lower family, including Daniel's son John Jacob, and his wife and family. John Jacob Lower's wife, and George Shultz's wife were sisters! #19 on this census page was Peter Lower, brother of John Jacob. #16 on the page was Samuel Leech, whose wife was born Elizabeth Lower, a daughter of Daniel Lower.

The book describes the founding of the "Evangelical (German) Church" at Urbana. George is one of the 18 listed. There is another list which contains 3 others. Of the 21, at least 20 are related!
