George W. Royce graduated from the academy in Canandaigua, New York, taught school, and May 2, 1861, enlisted in Co. G, 18th Regt., U. S. Vols. He was wounded July 21, 1861, in the battle of Bull Run. On the march to Antietam he was left ill in Hagarstown, Maryland; returned to his home, and died Nov. 30, 1862.
