    Mr. George Washington Pinkard, 82, of 50 Elm Street, Aragon, died Thursday, Sept. 23, in a Rome hospital.

    A native of Paulding County, Mr. Pinkard was born May 17, 1900. He was a retired textile employee and was a member of the Hicksville Baptist Church, a member of the Davitte Masonic Lodge and a member of the Low-12 Club.

    Mr. Pinkard was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Lila Austin Pinkard, and his parents, John and Mary F. Smith Pinkard.

    He is survived by one son, Rev. Buddy Pinkard of Aragon; four daughters, Mrs. Louise Cochran and Mrs. Betty Taff, both of Aragon; Mrs. Frances Morris of Cartersville and Mrs. Doris Norton of Jonesville; three brothers, Jim Pinkard, Fred Pinkard, and Rev. Homer Pinkard, all of Rockmart; three sisters, Mrs. Etta Brown, Mrs. Maryell Wheeler and Mrs. Frances White all of Rockmart.

    Fourteen grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren also survive.

    Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 25, at the Hicksville Baptist Church. The Rev. Frank Bradley, the Rev. Waldon Abernathy and the Rev. Jake Cash officiated. Interment was in the Yorkville Cemetery with the Masons conducting Masonic rites at the graveside.

    Pallbearers were Gordon Wheeler, Charles Pinkard, Charles Brown, Tommy Pinkard, Frank White and Billy Pinkard.

    The Freeman Harris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
