About George Motta

George Joseph Motta was born 18 July 1933 in Michigan, the second son of John Motta (1894-1965) and Mary Ronchetto (1902-1990). George spent his professional career in the food industry, working his way up to Deli/Dairy Buyer at Southern California retail supermarket chain Safeway, which was later acquired by Vons Grocery Co.. After working for Vons, George became a Buyer for Price Club, the limited assortment wholesale club retailer founded by industry legend Sol Price, which later became "Costco", a major national retail chain.

George was working at Price Club when he passed away on February 3, 1994 at age 60. He was survived by his wife, Billie, children Cindy and Michael, and two grandchildren.
