Inscription - MOORE vault - Druid Ridge Cemetery, Baltimore, MD Leutie Robertson incorrectly gives date of 12 Nov 1841 for George W. MOORE in her application for DAR membership #181860. Listed as George MOORE, age 8, in household of John W. MOORE in 1850 U.S. census.
- ↑ G.W.Moore was initially buried in another cemetery in Baltimore until his mausoleum was completed in 1912 in Druid Park Cemetery. His body was then disintered and placed in a bay in the new memorial.
- ↑ Several different accounts of G.W. MOORE's life record his receiving his "early" education in Somerset County. As yet no record has been discovered which would document his having received any formal schooling. Since both his parents were literate, it is possible he learned to read and write from them.
- ↑ Death range inferred from presence of Samuel in household of G.W. MOORE in 1870 U.S. census and his absence from MOORE"s household as recorded in the 1880 U.S. census. Since the family moved to Baltimore about 1871, a Baltimore death place appears more likely than Annapolis.
- ↑ On 18 Nov 1912, George W. MOORE was re-buried in his new mausoleum at Druid Hill Cemetery. He was, probably, temporarily interred at Greenwood Cemetary on or about 4 Nov 1909 until his monument was constructed.
