George Magee was a Civil War veteran, and enlisted at Camp Moore Sept 1861 in the 16th Louisiana Infantry, Company A, as Orderly Sergeant. Wounded in the chest at the Battle of Shiloh. Widow stated in her pension affidavit that he died as a result of "lung trouble" brought on by his wound.
