Death of Geo. Kennard
Geo. Kennard died very suddenly at his home in Ellsworth township Sunday [April 3, 1898]morning of asthma of which ailment he had been a sufferer for over a year.
Deceased was born at Glasgow, Scotland, in 1840, and moved to Canada when seven years of age. He settled in Emmet county about twenty-three years ago and hence was one of the pioneers of the county. During the grasshopper period he removed to the Pacific coast where he remained several years but returned to Emmet county eleven years ago, where he has since resided. He leaves a wife and four sons to mourn his death, Thomas, James and John, who are living on the farm and George who is now living at Lathrop, Minnesota. Funeral services were held Monday and the body laid to rest in the West Hill [Oak Hill] cemetery in Estherville.
