# Note: George Kiltz was first identified as our ancestor in a paper titled, "A Wisconsin Girl," written by Roberta Schaefer (Oberbeck) Koester in 1930. In his petition for land, dated S eptember 24, 1802, George Kiltz indicated he had left the Mohawk River to settle in Humberstone in 1797. He requested 200 acres of land in Wainfleet, District of Niagra to be near friends. His petitio n also indicated that he had a wife and child still in Humberstone. However, it appears that he actually ended up in Crawford twp, north of Wainfleet. His son, George Kiltz, is found in the 1871 and 1 881 Wainfleet Census. He had a very successful farm of 143 acres, with 2 homes, 3 barns, just north of Perry Station. The road is called Kilts Road. This is now located 3.5 miles west of the intersect ion of 3 and 23 in Wainfleet township.
