    At Smythe, S. D., of pneumonia, Jan. 30, 1898, George W. Huffman (brother of the late Rev. J. L. Huffman), in the 68th year of his age.
    He was born at North Hampton, Ohio, and moved with his parents to Rock County, Wis., in 1849. Was converted in his boyhood, baptized by Eld. Varnum Hull and united with the Rock River Seventh-day Baptist church, moved to his present home in South Dakota in 1894, and united with the Pleasant Grove Seventh-day Baptist church, where he remained a faithful and beloved member until his death. Funeral sermon was preached by Rev. Mr. Arms from Psa. 90: 12.
    He was a faithful soldier in the War of the Rebellion, enlisting in Co. G., 38th Wis. Infantry, serving until the close of the war. A beautiful and impressive burial service was held by his comrades at his funeral.
    He leaves a wife, two sons and two daughters, and nine grandchildren to mourn their loss. A kind and loving husband and father has gone, and we shall miss him; he is at rest, and our loss is his eternal gain. R. J. M.

    Rev. D. C. Arms, M. E. preached the funeral sermon of G. W. Huffman funeral at the S. D. Baptist church Tuesday at 11 AM, who died Sunday January 30 of bronchial pneumonia. Mr. H. and family came from Milton Junction, Wisconsin where he had spent most of his days, to Dakota and bought a house in Clare Township near Smyth P.O. nearly 4 years ago. He was a soldier in the 38th Wisconsin and a member of A.D. Hamilton Post GAR #60 in Milton. He was very quiet and unrentending, a worthy citizen and most respected neighbor and a consistent Christian who will be greatly missed from church and society.

    M. R. Coon received a telegram Monday announcing the death at Smyth, S. D., of Geo. Huffman, of pneumonia, on Sunday evening last. The funeral was held on Tuesday. Mr. Huffman, while he had resided in South Dakota, was among the early settlers of this township, coming with his parents from Ohio in 1849. Four sisters of the deceased reside in this village being Mrs. M. R. Coon, Mrs. C. T. Frink, Mrs. S. W. Baker and Mrs. A. Allen.
