His wife was Magdalena SIMMONS, by whom he had eleven children, six of whom are now living. A son, Jackson HOOVER, married Elizabeth SCOTHERN, in 1843. They had seven children, four of whom are still living: L. C., MONROE, F. W., and Mrs. Nannie E. Whitehead. In 1849, Mr. HOOVER bought sixty-eight acres of land in Harrison, on section eighteen. Afterwards he bought land in section seven, and now owns, in all, three hundred and eighty-seven acres. Mrs. WHITEHEAD, his daughter, lives in the adjoining township of Walnut, and his three sons at home. Township and county office have been held by him, a number of terms, and he is now one of the county commissioners.
