Son of George Moses Goodwin, Sr. and Mary "Polly" Clark.

George Moses Goodwin, Jr. married Jane Trindle Buchanan on 2 Oct 1817, in Davidson County, TN.

Cause of death explained in his tombstone transcription. Original transcription published in Information also from Tennessee Records: Tombstone Inscriptions and Manuscripts, Acklen comp. (1933)

From "The Oldest Church" [Mill Creek Baptist Church] by William H. Whitsitt, published in the Nashville Tennessean on 15 May 1904, p. 20, comes information not validated by either the tombstone transcription or the cemetery plat:

The tie that existed between Deacon George Goodwin and his pastor [Rev. James Whitsitt] must have been most intimate and tender. It was arranged that Mr. Goodwin and his wife both be buried in the Whitsitt enclosure, and an inscription on their tombstone testified the joy they felt in resting so near the place where their venerated friend should repose. That inscription disappeared with the war, as did so many other things in and around the ancient church.
