George Flikkema, at the age of 92 years old, went to be with his Lord on January 7, 2013. He was born on February 8, 1920 to Menko and Anna (Vrieling) Flikkema in Bozeman, Montana.

George received his education in the Vincent and Little Holland Schools in the Manhattan area. He served his country during World War II in the United States Army for nearly four years. He along with other young men from the Gallatin Valley served with distinction in the 124th Quarter Master Bakery Company as a Corporal in North Africa, Corsica, and Italy.

After the war, George married Dorothy Kimm on December 19, 1945. He spent his working years as a dairy farmer, farming three different farms all within a few miles of Churchill. In his retirement, until age 89, George continued to assist his son, Karl, and grandson, Mike, in their farming operations.

George also served as a deacon and an elder in both Manhattan and Bethel Christian Reformed Churches. He helped to begin the Bethel church as he served for a time in the councils of both the Manhattan and Bethel churches. In his own quiet and reserved manner he contributed to the development of his community. His lifelong belief and passion was that his only comfort in life and death is that he belonged, body and soul, to his faithful Savior Jesus Christ. (Heidelberg Catechism, Lord's Day I)
