It lists George as a member of the Marietta Volunteer Company of 1831. The charter stated they came together for the purpose of forming a new Light Infantry Corps to be styled the "Pennsylvania Grays" and to be commanded by John Flury as Captain.

George kept a tavern and store in Maytown. "He became greatly involved in his love for 'turf' and lost a large fortune. He moved to Mobile (Alabama?), thence to St. Louis and Cincinnati. He later moved to Carlisle where he kept a hotel. He died in Carlisle.
