Dornan, George Victor Arthur, a company sergeant-major in the Essex Scottish Regiment for 26 years and a long-time employee of the Ford Motor Company plant protection staff, died today at Hotel Dieu following a brief illness. Born in Belfast, Ireland, Mr. Dornan came to Windsor from Ireland after World War I. He has served as a supervisor in the plant protections department at Ford of Canada since 1923. During World War I he served with the Royal Inniskillen Fusiliers and later served with the Royal Irish Constabulary. In Windsor, he enlisted in the Essex Fusiliers, which later became The Essex Scottish and served as a company sergeant-major for many years. A member of Unit 30, Army, Navy and Air Force Club of Canada, Mr. Dornan was also a life member of the Essex and Kent Scottish sergeant's mess. He is survived by his wife, Eva Lily Dornan, and a daughter, Mrs. Arthur Butcher (Catherine) of Windsor. Anderson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements which are incomplete.

Former Sergeant Major George V. Dornan, Dies Semi-military services will be held Monday for former Company Sergeant Major George Victor Arthur Dornan, 58, who died Friday at the Hotel Dieu Hospital following a brief illness. A native of Ireland, Ireland, Mr. Dornan had lived in Windsor from shortly after World War I. He resided at 1674 Buckingham Dr. Sandwich East. During World War I he served in the Royal Inniskillen Fusiliers and later the Royal Irish Constabulary. When he came to Windsor, he joined the Essex Fusiliers, which later became The Essex Scottish. For 26 years he served with the militia unit in Windsor and for many of those years years was a company sergeant major. Mr. Dornan was a supervisor in plant protection at Ford of Canada. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. A. B. Ransom officiating. Military honors will be accorded Mr. Dornan during the burial service at the Soldiers' plot in Victoria Memorial Cemetery. Unit 30, Army, Navy and Air Force Club of Windsor will hold a special service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
