"The ancestors of those of this name in New England, being a family consisting of a father, mother and three sons, natives of Worms, Germany, sailed from Germany in 1715 in an emigrant ship for New York. The father and mother died on the passage and the family being left destitute, the two older sons, Peter and George, were apprenticed out to Dea. Mulford of Easthampton, L. I. where they at length married and had families. About 1736 removed to North Guilford, Conn. No trace of the younger brother."
